33K Cops to Secure School Opening

< 1 min read

The Philippine National Police (PNP) will deploy around 30,000 officers to secure public schools nationwide as they open on Monday. Despite some local government units delaying school openings due to Typhoon Carina and monsoon rains, the police are focused on student safety and will establish police assistance desks and patrol school areas. In other developments, the Department of Education (DepEd) has rejected Makati City’s request to manage three schools in Embo, which were recently transferred to Taguig City by the Supreme Court. DepEd Undersecretary Revsee Escobedo stated that Makati’s request lacked legal basis and that education management falls under the national government, not local units. The schools will remain under DepEd Taguig-Pateros jurisdiction.
