Nigerians are increasingly concerned about the intense heat prevailing across the country, leading to widespread complaints and adjustments in daily routines. Many resort to staying outdoors or out late at night to cope with the extreme weather conditions, indicative of the growing impact of climate change. The Nigerian Metrological Agency (NiMET) warned of a prolonged heat wave in its Seasonal Climate Prediction for February 2024, with temperatures expected to surpass long-term averages throughout March and May. Director-General Prof. Charles Anosike emphasized that both daytime and nighttime temperatures are projected to be warmer than usual across most regions of Nigeria.
