Professor Ishaq Oloyede, the registrar of JAMB, disclosed during the Committee of Pro-Chancellors conference that he received a request from a European country to verify the graduation status of a Nigerian student who applied for a postgraduate course at the age of fifteen. Despite concerns raised about illicit admissions, with 3,000 out of 9,000 admissions last year coming from a single university, he emphasized the need for collective responsibility to safeguard the integrity of Nigeria’s educational system. Senator Joshua Lidani highlighted additional challenges facing Nigerian institutions, including fraud, impersonation, inadequate funding, excessive proliferation of universities, discrimination, and abrupt dissolution of governing bodies.
