The Kano State Ministry of Health aims to screen 6,000 children for tuberculosis for free at 1,346 centers across the state. Currently, 1,058 children are receiving treatment for the disease. State Health Commissioner Dr. Abubakar Labaran announced this during a briefing for the 2024 childhood tuberculosis testing week. The event will also include other free health screenings for children, such as nutrition, HIV, and X-ray services, as well as contact tracing and TB preventive treatment. The screenings will target Tsangaya schools, community outreaches, paediatric clinics, immunisation units, and vulnerable children.
