Prominent child protection advocate urges SA government to rethink proposed law reforms

The South Australian government has been urged to rethink its approach to new child protection laws before parliament, with a prominent advocate arguing the proposed reforms are a “missed opportunity to prevent future tragedies”.

The state government last year introduced the Children and Young People (Safety and Support) Bill to replace the current legislation governing South Australia’s child protection and family support systems.
