Nigeria, Ghana, 61 Other Countries Facing Food Poverty, Says UNICEF

UNICEF’s June 2024 report highlighted countries facing severe child food poverty, including Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China, and many others across the globe. The report noted that 27% of children under five years old, amounting to 181 million children, are affected.

It emphasized the urgent need for diverse and nutritious diets to combat rising child food poverty exacerbated by inequities, conflict, climate crises, and unhealthy food practices. UNICEF urged governments and partners to prioritize investments in ending child food poverty to achieve global nutrition and development goals.
