Women in Plateau State are increasingly embracing the self-injection (SI) method of childbirth spacing using subcutaneous depot medroxyprogesterone acetate (DMPA-SC), overcoming initial fears and finding autonomy in self-care. This shift was highlighted at the close-out ceremony of the Delivering Innovation in Self-Care (DISC) project, implemented by the Society for Family Health (SFH) Nigeria in Jos. Women from various local government areas testified to the benefits of the SI method, attributing their comfort to empathetic counseling received from caregivers. They called for continued intervention and advocacy to promote understanding and adoption of the SI method among those who are not yet familiar with it.
