The Rivers State University, Nkpolu-Oroworukwo, Port Harcourt, has suspended four of its students who are also officials of the Man ‘O’ War organization for one academic session. The suspension follows their involvement in assaulting and causing physical harm to their fellow student, Victor Tobins, a 300-level Sociology student.

The university management deemed their actions contrary to university regulations and emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence among students. The acting Registrar of Rivers State University, Mrs. I. B. S. Harry, issued a statement announcing the suspension of four students who are members of the Man O’ War organization.

They were suspended for assaulting and causing physical injuries to Victor Tobin, a 300-level Sociology student, on June 12, 2024, at Hostel F on the university campus. The university management found their actions to be in violation of university regulations and imposed a one-academic-session suspension.

The statement emphasized the importance of peaceful coexistence among students and compliance with university rules. The incident had earlier sparked a protest by students demanding the disbandment of the local security outfit, which was later quelled with police intervention and assurances from the Vice Chancellor of prompt action.
