The National Biosafety Management Agency (NBMA) issued a statement urging the public to be cautious amidst a cholera outbreak in several Nigerian states. Dr. Agnes Asagbra, Director-General of NBMA, emphasized the importance of vigilance as Nigeria reported 30 deaths and 1,141 suspected cases of cholera.

As Salah festivities approach, the NBMA stresses the community’s health and safety. Cholera outbreaks have been reported in several Nigerian states, prompting the NBMA to collaborate with health authorities to monitor and control the disease’s spread.

Nigerians are urged to adopt hygiene practices like boiling drinking water, washing hands thoroughly, cooking food adequately, avoiding raw foods unless washed with safe water, and maintaining clean environments.

The NBMA calls for vigilance and prompt reporting of any cholera cases to nearby hospitals to safeguard public health during this period.
