Parents are Avoiding Hard Conversations with Gen Z

A recent Gallup poll reveals a disconnect between Gen Z and their parents regarding difficult conversations. While 80% of Gen Z finds discussions on topics like mental health, grades, and social media helpful, many parents are reluctant to engage in these conversations. The survey, involving 1,675 parent-child pairs, shows that parents are concerned about their children’s future, mental health, and safety but often avoid discussing these issues. Parents find it easier to talk about grades and safety but struggle with topics like social media and feelings. The reluctance to discuss difficult subjects persists even when parents are worried about them. Despite this, children find these conversations beneficial.
