The governor of New Jersey on Tuesday called for a ban on cell phones in K-12 public school classrooms statewide, drawing a connection between usage of the devices and declining mental health.
Gov. Phil Murphy delivered his State of the State address Tuesday from the New Jersey State House in Trenton. He tackled a number of education-related topics during the speech, including full-day kindergarten options and cell phones.
The latter, according to Gov. Murphy, are a significant “obstacle” in classrooms.
