13-yr-old Pupil Arrested for Threatening Schoolmates with Father’s Gun

Police in Akwa Ibom State have arrested 13-year-old Samuel Sunday for bringing his father’s gun to St. Paul Primary School, Ikot Ibiok, Eket Local Government Area, and threatening to shoot fellow pupils.
The Commissioner of Police, Akwa Ibom State Command, Baba Mohammed Azare, disclosed this on Wednesday in Uyo while briefing the press on the Command’s recent operations. He confirmed that the teenager’s father has also been taken into custody.
According to CP Azare, police received a report on January 30, 2025, about the incident, which allegedly took place on January 28, 2025. The boy was found in possession of a locally made pistol, which he confessed to having taken from a wardrobe in his father’s bedroom since November 2024.
Authorities swiftly intervened, arresting both the boy and his father. Investigations are ongoing to determine the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
