Several Midstate school districts are short dozens of bus drivers. Now, one state lawmaker has filed a bill he hopes will fix that. It would lower the minimum age for school bus drivers.
Local districts admit they have trouble hiring bus drivers. WSMV4’s Courtney Allen talked to one Smyrna man who said he would love to get behind the wheel, but state law is holding him back.
Isaiah Hynek works part-time cleaning Rutherford County School buses. “It is the closest thing to my dream that I could ever do at the moment,” Hynek said.
