Teen Fatally Shoots Mom’s Boyfriend Over Explicit Texts Found on Her Phone

A Mississippi teen has been sentenced to 35 years in prison for the 2022 killing of his mother’s boyfriend, following a confrontation sparked by explicit messages found on his mother’s phone.
At the time, just 15 years old, the affected child became enraged after discovering intimate texts between his mother and her boyfriend, 49-year-old Jimmie Lee Pierce Jr., according to court documents obtained by WJTV.
Authorities say he planned a confrontation with Pierce and brought two accomplices: Corey Hodge (22) and Bonny Fields (27). The trio intended to rob Pierce at his home.
When he and Hodge approached and demanded his wallet, witnesses say Pierce simply replied, “We don’t have anything.” Moments later, the affected child drew a firearm and shot Pierce twice in the chest. Pierce was rushed to the hospital but died shortly after.
All three turned themselves in days after the incident. The child and Hodge were charged with capital murder, while Fields was charged as an accessory after the fact.
He pleaded guilty to first-degree murder and has been sentenced to 35 years in prison, followed by five years of supervised release, according to Hinds County District Attorney Jody Owens.
