Over 6,000 Student Visas Revoked in U.S. for Crime, Terror Links

The U.S. State Department has revoked more than 6,000 student visas in 2025, citing violations such as overstays, criminal behavior, and support for terrorism, according to Fox News Digital.

Officials said roughly 4,000 revocations were linked to criminal offenses, including assault, DUIs, and burglary, while 200 to 300 were tied to terrorism-related activities, including alleged fundraising for Hamas.

The crackdown has also extended to students linked to political demonstrations, particularly pro-Palestinian protests. Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed in May that the government is reviewing the visa status of foreign students who participated in such protests, with more revocations expected.

Overall, the State Department reported 40,000 visas revoked in 2025, compared to 16,000 during the same period under the Biden administration. Critics, however, argue that the policy risks undermining civil liberties and unfairly targeting foreign students without due process.
