Child in Conflict with the Law

My daughter was stabbed 200 times’, heartbroken mother says, urging an end to fake stories on incident

A grieving mother in Malaysia, Wong Lee Ping, revealed that her 16‑year‑old daughter, Yap Shing Xuen, was stabbed more than 200 times, not 50 as some earlier reports claimed after a brutal attack inside the bathroom of SMK Bandar Utama 4 in Petaling Jaya.

According to Wong, the wounds spanned from the neck to the lungs and down to her daughter’s legs.

She said that during the wake, she emphasised the need to stop misleading stories circulating online, including false claims that her daughter had been stabbed only 50 times, or that she had a prior relationship with the suspect.

Wong described her daughter as well‑behaved, sporty and filial, recently having placed second in a sports event just two days before her tragic death.

She also denounced the spread of unverified donation links using fake QR codes, which exploited the tragedy and misled well‑meaning donors.

The suspect, a 14‑year‑old schoolmate has been remanded, and authorities are investigating. School safety, screening procedures, and how a weapon was brought into a supposedly secure school environment have become key issues questioned by the family.
