February 13 2024- Stafford County’s school superintendent, Thomas Taylor, highlighted “troubling trends” in the proposed budget for the 2024–25 school year. Taylor attributed the challenges to the postponement of projects and a decline in funding from local and state sources. He noted a correlation between funding levels and student performance, citing a decrease in rankings from 15th in Virginia in 2012 to 68th due to declining funding. Additionally, Taylor pointed out that only 43% of county teachers have more than 10 years of experience. The budget will require approval from the Stafford Board of Supervisors.
