Oyo School Abduction: Abducted Vice-Principal Pleads for Help in Newly Released Video, Urges Government to Consider Abductors’ Demands

A newly released video showing the abducted vice-principal of Community Grammar School, Ahoro-Esinele in Oyo State, has renewed urgent concerns over the safety and the protection of children and education workers held captive.

In the video released on June 8, 2026, Mrs. Alamu Folawe said those holding her and other abducted school staff are not demanding money or religious conditions. Instead, she claimed the group is demanding the release of some detained individuals, urging government authorities not to politicize the situation. She further pleaded with Nigerians to help circulate the video widely so it reaches authorities and strengthens pressure for a negotiated path toward their safe release.

Her message has triggered fresh anxiety among parents, educators, and child safeguarding stakeholders who continue to push for swift action to secure the release of school staff and children caught in ongoing abduction incidents across parts of Oyo State.

Security authorities are yet to issue updated details on rescue efforts linked to the latest video. However, operations to locate and secure abducted persons are believed to be ongoing.

Meanwhile, stakeholders continue to call for strengthened school protection measures, improved intelligence gathering, and faster response mechanisms. They argue that safeguarding education spaces must remain a national priority to prevent further incidents involving children and school personnel.
