JAMB Warns UTME, DE Candidates: One Profile Error Could Derail Your Admission
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has cautioned prospective Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry (DE) candidates against making any mistake in creating their profile as it could create serious problem during the admission process.
The warning was in a new advisory video released by JAMB’s “JAMB Explained” series and posted on the Board’s X account on Wednesday.
JAMB particularly advised fresh candidates to ensure that they check their names, date of birth and other personal information associated with their National Identification Number (NIN) before creating their profile.
The Board said these information are sourced directly from records of the National Identity Management Commission (NIMC) and not generated or manipulated by JAMB.
It stated that candidates who find out that there are mistakes in their names or dates of birth after registration will have challenges as JAMB cannot just change the information.
The Board said it advised the public to take a few minutes to verify that their name, date of birth and other information associated with the NIN is correct before creating their profile to register for the UTME or Direct Entry.
JAMB also advised candidates that it was not an assumption that they would get an affidavit to have the Board correct their records if they were wrong.
The Board emphasized that information provided at the time of creating a profile is the foundation for candidates’ records during the examination and admission process.
It therefore urged prospective candidates to clear any anomaly in their NIN records before they make their JAMB profile.
The warning comes as prospective candidates are preparing for UTME and Direct Entry registration, and JAMB is advising them to make the process of creating their profile an important process and not a routine.
