JAMB Makes Major Admission Move, Allows 2026 UTME Candidates to Verify O’Level Results From Home
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced a new system allowing 2026 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) candidates to verify and upload their O’Level results from home, a move that could make the transition to higher education more accessible for young people.
The new service currently covers results issued by the West African Examinations Council (WAEC). Through JAMB’s e-Facility platform, candidates can verify their results after obtaining a verification code, with JAMB confirming the information directly with the relevant examination body before updating the candidate’s profile.
Candidates are required to provide their National Identification Number, obtain a verification code and make the necessary payment. They can also use the SMS option by sending “VERIFY” followed by the verification code to 55019 or 66019.
From a child development and education perspective, the initiative could reduce some practical barriers that candidates face when completing admission requirements. Allowing young people to complete the process remotely may reduce unnecessary travel, long queues and repeated visits to Computer-Based Test centres.
JAMB said the technology-driven system is also intended to reduce errors associated with manual data entry and difficulties caused by network problems at centres.
Access to efficient admission processes is important because delays in verifying academic qualifications can affect students’ progression from secondary education into tertiary institutions. A simpler system may therefore support smoother educational transitions for eligible candidates.
JAMB is expected to extend direct verification to results from other examination bodies, potentially allowing more candidates to benefit from the service as they pursue further education.
