Former Richland County Boy Scout official pleads guilty to secretly filming children, faces 3 decades in prison

March 26 2024- Thomas Close, a former Boy Scout of America worker from Richland County, pleaded guilty to charges of filming boys secretly and sharing the images online. He admitted to two counts of sexual exploitation of children and one count of distributing child pornography. Close is expected to receive a sentence of 27 to 33 years in federal prison as part of his plea agreement.
