Curtin University researchers have linked miscarriages to complications arising from gestational diabetes and high blood pressure-related disorders during pregnancies. Their study, involving analysis of 52 studies encompassing over four million pregnancies across 22 countries, explored the health effects of miscarriage, abortion, and recurrent pregnancy loss on subsequent pregnancies. The research revealed distinct health risks for each group, indicating a 44% higher likelihood of developing gestational diabetes in later pregnancies for individuals who had experienced miscarriages, compared to only a 6% higher likelihood of developing high blood pressure.
