As dusk settled over Columbus, Ohio, on January 9, 2024, a momentous ceremony at 3700 South High Street marked a landmark occasion in the city’s educational annals. The Columbus Board of Education, governing Ohio’s largest school district, gathered to inaugurate its members for the upcoming term, with Dr. Tina D. Pierce, taking her oath as both a member and Vice President.
Administered by Ms. Terri D. Taylor, the oath of office was a solemn commitment from Dr. Pierce and her colleagues to champion the educational rights and welfare of the city’s youth.
This ceremony not only reaffirmed Dr. Pierce’s crucial role in shaping the educational landscape of Columbus’s children but also welcomed Ms. Jennifer Adair, Ms. Sarah Ingles, and Mr. Brandon Simmons, who were sworn in to serve the community.
The evening also saw the swearing-in of the newly elected Board President, Christina Vera, with Judge Marilyn Zayas of the First District Court of Appeals officiating. This underscored the significance and responsibility entrusted in these community roles.
