Former Senator Elisha Abbo in Fresh Scandal: in Police Custody Over Alleged Rape of 13-Year-Old Girl
Former Adamawa North lawmaker, Senator Elisha Abbo, is in the custody of the Nigeria Police Force Criminal Investigation Department (FCID) in Abuja over the alleged rape of a 13-year-old secondary school girl.
According to the parents of the affected child, the incident occurred on June 29, 2025, at Abbo’s residence in Katampe, Abuja.
They further revealed that Senator Aishatu Dahiru Ahmed, popularly known as Binani and a former governorship aspirant in Adamawa State, visited their home in an attempt to dissuade them from pursuing the matter.
The family also said that Abbo sent repeated sums of money to the girl’s father, which they described as an effort to suppress the case.
As of the time of this report, the former senator remains in police custody at the FCID headquarters.
This development adds to Abbo’s long trail of controversies. He was previously arrested for physically assaulting a woman at an adult toy shop in Abuja, and more recently accused by a married woman of using an intimate video to blackmail her.
The rape of the girl is a violation of her rights. Every child has the right to protection from sexual abuse and exploitation, and the right to grow up in a safe environment.
