The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has officially announced that the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) mop-up exam will be held on Saturday, 28th June 2025.

In a statement released by JAMB’s Public Communications Adviser, Dr. Fabian Benjamin, the Board disclosed that a total of 96,838 candidates will participate in the mop-up exercise. This figure includes 5,096 spill-over candidates from previous sessions, candidates who experienced biometric verification failures during the main UTME, and 91,742 candidates who were absent during the main and rescheduled examinations.

To prepare for the exercise, candidates are encouraged to begin printing their notification slips from Monday, 23rd June 2025. The examination will be conducted across 183 centres nationwide, with additional candidates placed on standby.

JAMB reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the integrity of its examinations, announcing that 113 Computer-Based Test (CBT) centres have been delisted for various offences ranging from technical deficiencies to examination malpractice. These centres are currently under investigation, and any found guilty will face prosecution.

The statement further revealed that the ongoing investigations have uncovered a number of examination malpractice syndicates, including certain school proprietors, tutorial centres, and even a few JAMB officials. JAMB expressed appreciation to the State Security Service (SSS), the Nigeria Police Force, and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps for their collaborative efforts in uncovering identity theft and other examination-related fraud.

As a result of these investigations, several examination towns have been deactivated. Candidates originally assigned to those towns will be reassigned to the nearest available locations, and JAMB has appealed for their patience and understanding.

To deter impersonation, particularly by undergraduate students, the Board has warned that any student caught will face institutional disciplinary action, including possible expulsion for violating their matriculation oath, alongside legal prosecution under the Examination Malpractice Act of 1999.

JAMB has also stated that the first session of the mop-up examination will begin at 8:00 a.m., and all candidates must arrive at least one hour before the start of the test. The exam will be conducted under strict supervision, with special squads of invigilators and security personnel deployed to monitor all centres.

Finally, the Board reassured the public of its unwavering commitment to fairness, transparency, and credibility in the conduct of its examinations.
