Justice Rahman Oshodi of the Ikeja Sexual Offences and Domestic Violence Court has sentenced Nnanna Daniel to 14 years in prison for attempting to sexually assault a 13-year-old girl. The judgment followed a plea and sentence agreement, which amended the original charge of defilement to attempted sexual assault by penetration. Daniel pleaded guilty to the amended charge during court proceedings on April 15, 2025.

The court emphasized the gravity of sexual offenses against children, highlighting the profound harm caused to affected children, their families, and the community. Justice Oshodi noted that the affected child, a 13-year-old girl, deserved protection and not exploitation. The sentence was backdated to May 18, 2018, the date of Daniel’s remand.

As part of the plea agreement, Daniel’s family is required to ensure his rehabilitation upon release. Additionally, he is prohibited from contacting the affected child or her family directly or indirectly. Under Lagos State law, Daniel will also be registered as a sex offender, with his details entered into the state’s Sex Offenders Register.
