Meet Gen Beta: The Newest Generation Has Arrived

Starting January 1, babies born are now part of Generation Beta — a label for those born between 2025 and 2039. According to research by McCrindle, Gen Beta is expected to make up 16% of the global population by 2035, with many living to see the 22nd century.

Just like Gen Alpha (nicknamed “iPad kids”), Gen Beta will be heavily shaped by technology, with their lives defined by AI and automation. However, they’ll also face major societal challenges like climate change and global population shifts.

A 2023 Pew Research study found that 1 in 5 students who knew about ChatGPT used it to help with schoolwork — highlighting how AI tools are already reshaping education. Experts suggest keeping kids off social media as long as possible to protect their mental health in this tech-saturated world. While generational labels can be helpful to understand societal shifts, researchers caution against oversimplifying differences between groups.
