NECO Announces Release of 2025 BECE Results

The National Examinations Council (NECO) has officially released the 2025 Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results.
According to a statement by Azeez Sani, Acting Director of Public Affairs, a total of 179,201 candidates sat for the examination, which covered 12 subjects. The exams were conducted from May 12 to May 23, 2025, across the country.
The release follows the successful conclusion of the 2025 BECE Award Committee Meeting held at NECO Headquarters in Minna. Chairperson of the Committee, Dr. (Mrs) Folake David, Director of Basic Education at the Federal Ministry of Education, expressed satisfaction with the conduct and outcome of the examination process.
Also in attendance were secondary school principals from across Nigeria and senior NECO officials, reinforcing the importance of collaboration in the country’s education sector.
In a move to ensure fairness and second chances, the committee also approved the 2025 BECE Re-sit examination timetable. The re-sit is scheduled for July 23 and 24, and will cover Mathematics and English Studies, two core subjects critical to academic progression.
This development highlights the exam body’s continued efforts to strengthen access to quality education and protect every child’s right to learning and academic opportunity.
