In an inspiring display of creativity and brilliance, 10-year-old Nigerian girls Akachukwu Blessed Nwachukwu and Ifunanya Gabriella Okoye from Rivers State have won the 2025 Technovation Global Summit, a prestigious international competition celebrating young innovators in technology.

The National Orientation Agency (NOA), in a statement released Wednesday, celebrated the duo for bringing pride to Nigeria and Africa at large.

Their award-winning mobile application, “Stay Woke,” harnesses artificial intelligence to detect driver fatigue and distraction in real-time, issuing alerts to help prevent road accidents.

Outshining over 33,000 participants from 117 countries, Akachukwu and Ifunanya’s victory highlights the boundless potential of young minds when given the tools, encouragement, and opportunity to thrive.

Their success not only cements Nigeria’s place on the global technology map but also reflects the growing power of African innovation driven by youth creativity and determination.

The NOA praised their achievement as a shining example of what is possible when young girls are supported in STEM education, emphasizing how their breakthrough will inspire countless others to dream boldly and innovate fearlessly.

This remarkable accomplishment echoes one of the fundamental guarantees of the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), the right to participation. Children have the right to express their views, explore their talents, and take part in decisions and activities that affect their lives and communities.

By giving young people the platform to innovate, lead, and create change, society honors not only their voices but also their capacity to shape a better, smarter, and safer future for all.
