The Oyo State Government has reaffirmed its ban on mobile phones, smartwatches, and Meta eyeglasses in schools, particularly during examinations, in a renewed effort to curb malpractice and promote discipline in the education sector.

The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Olusegun Olayiwola, during a meeting with key education stakeholders, including permanent secretaries, Inspectors-General of Education, and heads of departments, at the Ministry’s conference room.

Olayiwola reiterated that an existing official circular already prohibits students from bringing mobile phones into school premises and exam venues.

He called on school authorities to strictly enforce the directive without exception, adding that smartwatches, Meta eyeglasses, and other tech gadgets that could facilitate examination malpractice are also banned.

He urged teachers, parents, and guardians to remain vigilant and support efforts to uphold educational integrity.

By taking this step, the Oyo State Government seeks to curtail exam malpractice, foster honesty, and create a structured learning atmosphere that truly upholds every child’s right to quality education.
