March 26 2024- Warren Buffett’s Berkshire Hathaway initially invested in Apple when it traded at a discount with a low P/E ratio in 2016. Despite Apple’s subsequent growth and service segment expansion, its stock recently lost its market premium. Over the last six months, Apple’s stock declined while the S&P 500 rose, leading to Apple’s P/E ratio aligning with the S&P 500’s. Other top holdings in Berkshire’s portfolio, such as Bank of America, American Express, Coca-Cola, Chevron, and Occidental Petroleum, are also trading at discounts to the S&P 500, collectively comprising 78.4% of Berkshire’s holdings.
