February 12 2024- Nearly two years ago, Chris and Brittany Tyler from Louisville, Kentucky, read a news story about a newborn surrendered under the state’s Safe Infants Act, which allows parents to leave babies under 30 days old at designated safe places with no penalties. Last month, the Tylers adopted the baby, naming him Samuel. The couple, foster parents for seven years, already had two adopted sons. When they read about the surrendered infant, they hoped to be asked to take him in. Samuel, now almost 2 years old, has become a cherished part of their family. The firefighters who found him at the fire station received the baby safely in a box with a note from his biological mother.
