Houston ISD Superintendent Mike Miles Announces ‘Remarkable Improvements’ on 2024 Accountability Ratings

Houston ISD Superintendent Mike Miles and district leaders have announced significant improvements in the district’s accountability ratings, marking a strong start to the school year. HISD reported an 82% increase in schools receiving “A” and “B” ratings, rising from 93 in 2023 to 170 in 2024, while the number of schools rated “D” and “F” dropped by nearly two-thirds, from 120 to 41. This progress is attributed to the New Education System (NES) introduced in 85 schools, which saw a 480% increase in “A” or “B” ratings. Superintendent Miles expressed pride in the district’s achievements and emphasized ongoing efforts to enhance student achievement and education quality.
