Ten years ago, when my daughter-in-law was four months pregnant, my son asked if I could care for their child instead of using daycare. I happily agreed, seeing it as a privilege and duty. Initially, I was paid $300 for 30 hours of childcare, but I soon felt guilty and decided to offer my help for free, believing that the experience was more valuable than any monetary compensation. Now, I care for my granddaughter, who is now 10, and my grandson, 8, from early morning until their parents pick them up in the evening. I’ve taken on various activities with them, like teaching American Sign Language and helping them excel academically. Watching them grow and spending quality time together has been incredibly rewarding for me.
I quit my Job to look after my Grandchildren. My Son Initially paid me $10 an Hour, but now I Gladly do it for Free
