Martinez Gains School Principals Support

< 1 min read

As the first half of the school year ends, support for Chicago Public Schools (CPS) CEO Pedro Martinez continues to grow among principals amidst an ongoing power struggle. Martinez’s position has been under threat due to tensions with Mayor Brandon Johnson’s administration and the Chicago Teachers Union (CTU). The dispute has intensified, particularly over negotiations regarding the union’s next contract. In response, nearly 700 CPS principals and assistant principals have signed a letter, originally issued in August, urging the CPS Board to carefully consider the impact of leadership changes. The letter, circulated independently of the principals’ union, reflects growing concern over Martinez’s potential ouster.
