Remaining in educational institutions correlates with longer lifespans and a decelerated aging process

A recent analysis of data spanning three generations and involving 3,101 individuals suggests that staying longer in school not only leads to better education but is also associated with longer lifespans and slower aging. Researchers from the US, Norway, and the UK examined the relationship between education and health at the cellular level, finding that an additional two years of schooling correlated with a 2-3 percent decrease in biological aging. Factors such as educational mobility within families were considered to isolate the effects of education on aging and longevity. While the exact mechanisms behind this association remain unclear, the study underscores the potential health benefits of further education and highlights the need for further research to understand the underlying mechanisms.
