School Closed in Anambra Over Unsafe Learning Conditions
The Anambra State Government has shut down Great Mind Academy in Awka after an inspection revealed that the school was operating in unfit and unhealthy conditions.
Commissioner for Education, Prof. Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, ordered the immediate closure on Tuesday, stressing that no child in the state should be subjected to unsafe learning environments.
Located behind the old Government House, Awka, the school was deemed unsuitable for teaching and learning. The Commissioner directed the Operation Clean and Healthy Anambra (OCHA) Brigade to enforce the closure without delay, reaffirming the state’s commitment to protecting learners.
This action aligns with the child’s right, which guarantees every child the right to education in a safe, healthy, and dignified environment.
