Schools Closed as Southwest Monsoon Persists

Several local government units (LGUs) across Metro Manila and nearby Luzon provinces have declared class suspensions or implemented alternative learning arrangements for Tuesday, July 22, 2025, as heavy rains from the southwest monsoon (habagat) continue to impact the region.
Class suspensions cover all levels in both public and private schools. Students are advised to stay home for their safety. Affected areas include:
- Metro Manila
- Zambales
- Bataan
- Pampanga
- Bulacan
- Cavite
- Batangas
- Rizal
- Pangasinan
- Tarlac
- Occidental Mindoro
President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. authorized the class suspensions based on the recommendation of the Office of Civil Defense. The Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG), through Secretary Jonvic Remulla, issued the order to all concerned LGUs.
This measure aligns with Article 19 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, affirming every child’s right to safety and protection from all forms of harm.
