Students Bullying, Physically Assaulting Colleagues Risk Indefinite Suspension — Ministry

The Federal Ministry of Education in Nigeria has announced that students involved in physical assault causing bodily harm will face indefinite suspension from Unity Colleges across the country. This decision follows increasing reports of violence and bullying among students. The ministry condemned such acts as cruel and inhuman, emphasizing that both individuals and groups of students responsible for these assaults will face the suspension.

College administrators have been instructed to strictly enforce the policy and inform both the Student-Based Management Committee (SBMC) and parents. This action follows a recent incident at the Federal Government College, Enugu, where 13 students were shown in a viral video assaulting a fellow student, leading to their temporary suspension for investigation.
