Trump Honors 13-Year-Old Cancer Warrior Who Continues to Defy the Odds

Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel, a 13-year-old battling brain cancer, was honored by former President Donald Trump during his address to Congress. Diagnosed in 2018 with high-grade anaplastic ependymoma, DJ has defied medical odds, undergoing 13 brain surgeries while continuing to inspire others.
Despite his challenges, DJ has been recognized by 908 law enforcement agencies, surpassing his goal of collecting 100 honorary badges. “Once I reach 1,000, I’m just going to keep going until my gas tank runs out,” he said.
Trump acknowledged DJ’s resilience, stating that his cancer likely resulted from chemical exposure. DJ remains determined to spread kindness, advocating for the homeless and dreaming of becoming a police officer to help others. His father, Theodis Daniel, praised his son’s perseverance: “You got to stay supremely positive and just do nice things for people. Look at us.”
