UAE Schools Champion Digital Safety with Innovative Framework

The UAE has set a global precedent by becoming the first country to roll out the concept of a digitally secure school across all public and private institutions, as reported by Al Khaleej newspaper.

Launched under the initiative “Aqdar for Digitally Secure Schools” by the Ministry of Education in collaboration with the Khalifa Empowerment Program (Aqdar) and defense technology group Edge, the framework adopts EU standards for online safety.

It integrates advanced cyber defense measures with awareness programs for students, educators, and parents, ensuring schools are well-protected from hacking threats while also nurturing a culture of responsible internet use.

According to Noura Yousif Al Baloushi, a researcher in legislation and regulatory policy at the Federal National Council, the role of schools today extends beyond traditional education.

They now play a vital role in bridging the digital divide, providing students with smart devices, internet access, and interactive platforms that enhance technical skills while reducing socioeconomic disparities.

The initiative goes further by introducing interactive workshops and digital codes of conduct, teaching children how to protect their privacy, recognize online dangers, and report harmful or suspicious content.

This national step not only protects learning environments but also upholds child’s right to access safe, quality education and reliable information, free from exploitation and harm.
