Elvis Nosakhare, a 41-year-old Nigerian man residing in the United Kingdom, has been sentenced to six years in prison for sexually assaulting his girlfriend’s underage daughter, a case authorities have described as a “disgusting betrayal of trust.”

Nosakhare met the affected child’s mother through an online dating platform. The abuse took place in the Thames Valley area, prompting an investigation by Thames Valley Police’s Child Abuse Unit. He was subsequently arraigned at Aylesbury Crown Court and found guilty of two counts of engaging in penetrative sexual activity with a girl and three counts of non-penetrative sexual activity.

In addition to the prison sentence handed down on July 29, the court ordered that Nosakhare be placed on the Sex Offenders Register for life and issued a restraining order against him.

Detective Constable Bryn Smith, the lead investigator, praised the affected child’s bravery throughout the investigation and trial.

This case comes shortly after the conviction of another Nigerian, Adewale Kudabo, who was sentenced to 12 months in the UK for sexually assaulting a patient while working as a healthcare assistant at York Hospital.

This case represents a clear violation of the child’s right to protection from all forms of sexual exploitation and sexual abuse.
