17-year-old Sophia Park from Tulare County has made history by becoming the youngest person to pass the California bar exam. She achieved this milestone at 17 years and 8 months, surpassing her older brother, Peter, who was 17 years and 11 months old when he passed in 2023.
Tulare County District Attorney Tim Ward expressed immense pride in Sophia’s accomplishment, highlighting the success of their law students, interns, and clerks, and the positive impact on their office. Both Sophia and Peter’s achievements are celebrated as part of their family’s impressive legal legacy.
Sophia Park began her law school journey at age 13 while still attending junior high at Oxford Academy in Cypress, California. She graduated high school in 2022 after passing the California High School Proficiency Exam and completed her law degree in 2024 at Northwestern California University School of Law.
Like her brother, she used a state bar rule allowing students to apply to law school through College Level Proficiency Exams. Sophia interned at the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office and is now a law clerk at the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office.
She plans to be sworn in as a licensed attorney in March 2025, when she turns 18, and aims to become a prosecutor at the Tulare County District Attorney’s Office, following her brother’s career path. She is committed to ensuring justice is served and victims’ voices are heard.
