WAEC Withholds King’s College Results, Parents Demand Answers

Source

A major controversy has erupted as the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) has withheld the entire 2025 WASSCE results of students from King’s College Lagos due to alleged examination malpractice.

Despite the release of results for over 1.9 million candidates, King’s College students and their families were stunned to discover their results had not been released. The situation has caused widespread anxiety, especially for students applying to universities with “awaiting result” status.

WAEC’s spokesperson confirmed that any school whose results were withheld was likely involved in malpractice and urged affected candidates to file complaints through the WAEC Complaints Portal.

This development follows a previous warning issued to King’s College in 2024 for examination infractions, raising questions about institutional oversight and recurrence.

Parents have bombarded school officials and PTA executives seeking clarity, as the delay threatens to jeopardize the admission chances of innocent students.

Withholding the entire results of a school has serious implications, particularly for students who played no role in any wrongdoing.

Every child has the right to education, which includes fair access to their academic results and opportunities for advancement. Allegations must be investigated, but justice must not come at the cost of collective punishment.
