FG Releases 2026/2027 Federal Unity Colleges Admission List for Children
The Federal Government has released the 2026/2027 admission list for Junior Secondary School One (JSS1) into Federal Unity Colleges across Nigeria, opening the next stage of secondary education for thousands of children.
The admission list, approved by the Minister of Education, Dr Tunji Alausa, is available through the Federal Ministry of Education’s admission portal and notice boards at the respective colleges.
Parents and guardians are advised to check the admission status of their children and wards promptly. Successful candidates are required to print their admission slips and report to the Federal Unity College indicated on the slip to complete the confirmation process.
The admission follows the 2026 National Common Entrance Examination (NCEE), conducted by the National Examinations Council as the basis for selecting children for placement into the colleges.
According to the ministry, 60,357 candidates registered for the examination, while 56,950 sat for it and 3,407 were absent.
From a child development perspective, access to quality secondary education is important in helping children build academic knowledge, social skills and greater independence as they progress through adolescence.
Federal Unity Colleges also provide an opportunity for children from different parts of Nigeria to learn together. This can support cultural understanding, friendships and a stronger sense of national identity.
The ministry said admission is conducted under an approved quota system that considers merit alongside measures designed to promote equitable representation among states.
Minister Alausa congratulated successful candidates and encouraged them to approach their education with diligence, discipline and commitment to excellence.
Parents should complete the required admission formalities and ensure their children meet the reporting requirements to avoid delays in securing their places.
