Indiana will expand state testing for babies and toddlers to assess kindergarten readiness. The Indiana Department of Education announced the introduction of the Kindergarten Readiness Assessment and ISPROUT, aimed at evaluating skills and providing early interventions. These tests will be offered to all schools and early learning providers, starting with kindergarteners and preschoolers in May 2024 and younger children in October 2024. The assessments, based on educator observations, will be available at no cost and initially on an opt-in basis. The initiative aims to support children who may need help during crucial developmental windows.
