Five children, aged between five and 13, suffocated to death after being trapped in an abandoned car in the Gurara Albishir area of Minna, Niger State. The children had accidentally locked themselves in a car that had been abandoned for over two years. Their parents discovered their bodies on Sunday evening after searching for them for hours. The victims included four females and one male, comprising three siblings and two others, including the car owner’s child. DSP Wasiu Abiodun, spokesperson for the Niger Police Command, confirmed the incident, noting that the Kpakungu Division Office received the report around 6:30 p.m. on Sunday. The children were found in a Honda Civic with registration No. GO 778 ABC and had died from suffocation. Police visited the scene, and the parents later removed the children’s bodies.
