JCPS is working on its bus route plan in collaboration with TARC, but uncertainty remains over how many routes will be restored by the start of the school year. Around 65% of next year’s bus routes have been outlined, with hopes that 70 drivers from TARC will help fill the gaps left by JCPS driver shortages. However, the availability of these drivers is not guaranteed, and JCPS Superintendent Dr. Marty Pollio noted that the situation could change significantly in the remaining six weeks before school starts. The district currently lacks about a dozen drivers needed to fully implement its revised routes, with retirements potentially affecting this shortfall.
