The Great Valley School District in Pennsylvania is addressing concerns regarding nearly two dozen fake TikTok accounts created by eighth graders impersonating teachers. These accounts, discovered in February, posted offensive content including racism and homophobia, as well as insinuations of pedophilia. Despite efforts by the district to address the issue with assemblies on responsible social media use and involving local authorities, new accounts have continued to appear over the summer. District officials expressed support for affected staff and emphasized the challenge of addressing such incidents legally due to free speech protections outside of school.
