In the 2024 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME), the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) emerged as the most preferred tertiary institution with 64,143 applicants. Lagos State University (LASU) followed closely in second place with 62,601 applicants, marking its first time in the top ranks after not being in the top 10 previously. The University of Lagos (UNILAG) ranked third with 59,105 applicants. This data was disclosed during an ongoing policy meeting chaired by the Minister of Education, Tahir Mamman, according to information from JAMB.
